Pecanne Log’s Suburban Explorer: Scottdale

21 Feb

If you go down Ponce past Decatur, past Kudzu, past the galaxy cats mural, past YDFM, you’ll end up pretty quickly in Scottdale. Scottdale ended up on the map because of Col. George Washington Scott, owner the Scottdale Cotton Mill and major donor to the Decatur Female Seminary, renamed Agnes Scott College in memory of his mom. Scottdale Mill closed in 1982, four years after the Fulton Bag and Cotton Mills and more than a decade after Whittier Mill (also owned by the Scotts) were shuttered. Now one of the biggest games in town is the creatively named Steel, LLC and the area suffers from the unincorporated malaise so specific to DeKalb County.

Scottdale also pioneered beefing it up.

You know you’ve driven by those antiques stores a few times and wondered if they were any good. Well, they’re not, not really. The most intriguing merchandise was a giant box of mix CDs someone made with titles written in Sharpie like “30 and Fading” and “Bad Teacher” and “Take it Slow.” But we just weren’t willing to pay real money to find out what they sounded like.

Oh, fine, we know you only looked this far to watch the Charlie Boy Gang’s BRAND-NEW “BEEF IT UP” MUSIC VIDEO!!!!

And here’s how regular people beef it up at Scottdale Day.

I love that you got a photo of the X-press babies sign. Did you find out what it was all about?

Sometimes when you drive by Steel, LLC at night they have the rolling doors open and the place is lit up pretty cool by the welding, or whatever the hell they do in there.

I do agree with all the ideas you have presented in your post. They’re very convincing and will certainly work. Nonetheless, the posts are very quick for starters. Could you please prolong them a little from subsequent time? Thank you for the post.

A locksmith is not only called in cases where keys are lost or forgotten, or when locks need to be replaced for
safety reasons. In reality, your own personal basic
safety at an increased risk to be able to abandon. Hiring an emergency locksmith will enable you to get into your vehicle or home using non-destructive
means without damaging your windows and doors.
